Turn of the Century Victorian Steamer Trunk brought over by my Grandparents from England shortly after 1910.
This trunk is complete with years of aging and patina. It is all original, including the lithograph, hinges, lock and wheels. The lithograph of a courting couple is complete, and very rare on a flat-top trunk. The metal hardware is black painted metal, and the little inset wheels still work. The body is canvas covered wood. The canvas is good other than a small tear at the back, but the wood is not broken anywhere - some tiny cracks from being dry. The leather handles are missing. Very clean interior - no mildew as it has always been kept in a dry environment (I stored my photos in it). There is a name stenciled in black block letters on side of trunk.... R. M. HUNTER.
Measurements......height 22", width 19", length 32"
Info from oldtrunks.com : The classic flat top trunks with canvas and hardwood staves were made from about the 1870s to around 1920. Many rounded top trunks had artwork inside (I have seen very few flat tops with pictures).
