2002 Pontiac Aztek SUV.
The good:
* Only 148,500kms. But increases 85kms per day.
* White, automatic, V6, FWD.
* Power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, intermittent wipers, rear defogger, fog lights, roof rack, built-in cooler console.
* 5 seats with rear folding seats that fold right up for extra cargo space in the back. Can carry a full 4'x8' sheet of plywood.
* Used as a daily reliable highway commuter for my 68 year old father to and from Port Alberni. No stalls, no being broke down on the side of the highway, reliable every day.
* No fluid leaks
* Newer brakes (rotors, calipers, and pads)
* Newer winter tires
* The ultimate camping vehicle
The bad: (so you get zero bad surprises)
* Drivers side speaker disconnected due to parking brake audio alarm intermittently going off. Parking brake works fine, it's just the alarm that is a pain. You can hook up the speaker again but you may get the parking brake alarm come on once in awhile.
* Light for speedometer doesn't work so hard to see speedometer at night. Other lights on dash work fine.
* Body is decent but has a few spots of peeling paint.
* Needs a good interior clean.
* A/C doesn't seem to blow cold. May need to be recharged.
* Noisy on highway due to needing wheel alignment. Wheel alignment alarm on dash is on and it vibrates a little bit when going around corners because of this.
* Wire broke to back tilt driver's seat. Can grab wire with pliers to tilt it.
* Engine light goes on for a few seconds if flooring it up a hill but goes out right after. Did 2 of the spark plugs a few months back. May need the other 4 changed. But no misfire on code.
* ABS light is on but it brakes perfectly.
* Not available to take home until May 10th as he doesn't get his new car until then. So the mileage will go up 85kms a day. Can view before then of course evenings and weekends in Chartwell, Qualicum.
While it needs a little bit of work, it can be driven long term as is, and the work that is needed are not expensive items to fix. My dad was going to fix it all himself when he retired as they are easy fixes according to him, but I ended up convincing him to buy a new hybrid instead. So this beast has to go.
